Lin Yi

Lin Yi is 188 centimeters tall, and that was the first number that shaped his entry into the industry. Before stepping onto a film set, he studied ballroom dancing at the Beijing Sport University. It was in 2015 that Tangren Media noticed him.

And the gamble paid off.

He signed his management contract while still a teenager with no prior experience in front of the camera. He spent several years in an in-house training program before the public knew his name. His background in dance gave him a physical discipline that other actors of his generation didn't have.

The Algorithm of Coldness

In 2019, he played Gu Weiyi in Put Your Head on My Shoulder. The series was a massive hit in China, but its real impact was measured in the international streaming market. He played a physics student who struggles to express his emotions.

And the audience's response was immediate.

That role won him the Youth Artist of the Year award at the Golden Bud Network Film and TV Festival gala in 2019. His image began to be sold as the ideal boyfriend standard in youth fiction. But the actor sought to move away from that label in his next contracts.

For 2021, he starred in Love Scenery alongside Xu Lu. The story blended the worlds of video games and the music industry. The chemistry between the leads sparked interactions on Asian social media for months.

It wasn't all smooth sailing.

The Weight of Illness in 2024

In 2023 he filmed Derailment, where the tone changed completely. The plot moved away from light romance and into parallel universes and psychological drama. It was preparation for his most demanding work to date.

In 2024, he premiered in Angels Fall Sometimes, where he played a young man diagnosed with ALS. For this role, he had to undergo controlled weight loss to reflect the character's physical decline. The filming focused on the harshness of the disease rather than the sentimentality typical of the genre.

That same year, he appeared in The Tale of Rose, sharing scenes with Liu Yifei. In this production, he played a young pilot who brings energy to the main plot. The contrast between his two roles in 2024 showed a technical work ethic that critics didn't expect from a runway model.

Tangren Media has maintained full control of his image rights and advertising contracts since 2015.
