Loreto Peralta wasn't looking to become an actress when her mother read a message from Eugenio Derbez on Twitter in 2012. The director was looking for a blonde girl with light eyes who spoke fluent English and Spanish for his next film project.

She was seven years old and had no previous experience in front of the cameras of a major studio. But her chemistry with Derbez during auditions in Mexico City was so obvious that the script for No Refunds was changed so she could fit the role of Maggie.

The movie earned 99 million dollars at the global box office after its release in 2013.

It was a stroke of luck that changed the course of her childhood.

After the initial burst of fame, the industry tried to pigeonhole her as a child prodigy. Peralta chose to space out her appearances so she wouldn't burn through stages too quickly, and she kept a normal school life in the United States.

Maturity in Front of the Lens

In 2018, she lent her voice to the Spanish version of The Little Mermaid and took part in the shoot of La casa de las flores in 2019. In this Netflix production she played Rosita and showed a rowdier style than in her early work.

Balancing high school with shoots between Los Angeles and Mexico takes a discipline few teenagers manage to keep up. Most actors who start so young vanish from the radar before they come of age.

Loreto Peralta took it in stride.

During 2021, she worked on the movie Tú eres mi problema alongside Álvaro Curiel. In this feature she played a darker character, far from the family comedy that first made her famous.

But her career wasn't limited to film sets. In 2018, she landed her first major campaign with designer Raquel Orozco and began working steadily in fashion editorial.

In 2021, she also joined the cast of the series Neighbor War, where she explored satirical humor. Her profile diversified between acting and luxury brand campaigns, without losing touch with the Latin American market.

The production budget for her first major hit in 2013 was 5 million dollars, and the film remains one of the most profitable Spanish-language productions of the decade.
