Lyubov Aksyonova was born in Moscow in 1990 under the surname Novikova. Her entry into the prestigious GITIS academy was no red carpet, since the examiners doubted she could fit into classic dramatic roles. But she insisted until she secured a place in Sergey Golomazov's workshop.
During those training years, she learned that acting isn't about reciting lines but about holding a gaze. And she pulled it off.
In 2010, she had her first real contact with the industry on the series Nashi sosedi. It was a small role that barely covered the bills. But it taught her how a film set worked before she moved on to bigger-budget projects.
Her surname changed from Novikova to Aksyonova after she married producer Pavel Aksyonov in 2013. That professional and personal union coincided with a shift in the kind of scripts she chose.
In 2014, she starred in the film Love Does Not Love, and audiences began to notice her ability to hold long close-ups. That production performed well at the box office and opened the doors to major national networks for her.
But she wanted something that would move away from the innocent-girl image. So she agreed to take part in the series The Road to Calvary in 2017. It was an adaptation of Aleksey Tolstoy's work in which she had to play Katya amid war and revolution.
That role demanded complete physical restraint.
In 2018, she appeared in Beyond the Edge alongside Antonio Banderas. The film tried to reach an international market by mixing fantasy and heist elements. Critical response was lukewarm, but it taught her how co-productions work beyond Russia's borders.
Then came the comic book phenomenon.
In 2021, she played journalist Yulia Pchyolkina in Major Grom: Plague Doctor. For this role, she had to dye her hair an intense red and shoot action scenes on the streets of Saint Petersburg. The production reached No. 1 globally on streaming platforms for several weeks that year.
Aksyonova doesn't usually outsource the preparation of her characters to outside consultants. In 2022, she starred in the series The Mutiny and personally set out to study the nervous tics of women suffering from post-traumatic stress. She says she prefers physical exhaustion to intellectual doubt.
That obsession with detail led her to take part in By the Will of the Pike in 2023. It was a fantasy film based on folk tales that required interacting with digital elements that did not exist during filming.
Technique has always been her priority.
In 2024, she worked on the series The Ministry of Bright Future, a show whose script explored a bureaucratic dystopia. Filming took place in industrial locations in Moscow, with days of more than twelve hours of recording under artificial light.
Her contract for the year 2025 includes two crime feature films that have already entered pre-production. The actress is bound by a strict confidentiality clause that prevents details about the cast from being leaked until the initial editing of the films is complete.
The latest official box office figure for her films in Russian territory exceeds 4,000 million rubles.
