María Ramos Mouhoub approaches acting as a process of subtraction. In her early work from 2015, there was little artifice, because her training at the Superior School of Dramatic Art in Seville taught her that silence is often more effective than a scream. She worked on small projects and stage plays that few people saw, but which helped her understand how the gaze works in front of a film lens.
The industry took notice of her for her ability to hold long shots without blinking.
In 2018, she joined the cast of Amar es para siempre to play Lourdes Cano. It was a period of intense learning in which she shot scenes at a frantic pace and learned to memorize entire pages in a matter of minutes. But her real breakthrough in visibility came when streaming platforms began looking for profiles with a depth that moved away from the conventional.
The series El Cid marked a change of scale in her career in 2020. Playing Infanta Sancha demanded a physical presence and a restraint that Ramos Mouhoub handled with unusual ease. And she did it without relying on the usual tricks of period drama, preferring to build the character from intuition. The shoot involved months of technical preparation and complete mastery of marks on set that prepared her for big-budget productions.
And then the gritty realism of modern television knocked on her door.
In 2022, she appeared in La Unidad and Entrevías, two projects that demanded a performance grounded in street reality. In Entrevías, she played Gladys and shared scenes with José Coronado in an environment where dramatic tension was constant. Ramos Mouhoub has a quality of seeming not to act at all, even when the script becomes extremely dense.
Despite media exposure, she still keeps a careful distance from the noise of fame.
Beyond acting, she has explored creating her own stories, seeking a creative control that pure acting sometimes denies her. In 2023, she got involved in developing projects where the human narrative takes precedence over any label of origin or identity. Her contract for the fourth season of Entrevías included night shoots lasting twelve hours on outdoor locations in the Villaverde neighborhood with subzero temperatures.
