In 2018, Michele Morrone earned six hundred euros a month working as a gardener in a small town in northern Italy. He had just divorced designer Rouba Saadeh from Lebanon and had no resources to support his two children. Depression had completely pushed him away from the casting circuits of Rome and Milan.
That forced break lasted almost a year.
But the technical training he had received at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia remained intact. Before the economic and personal crisis, he took part in minor productions such as the series Sirene in 2017. Back then, no one in the Italian film industry was betting on his classic leading-man look with its extremely intense gaze.
The release of 365 Days on Netflix during the global lockdown dramatically changed his bank account. The film received harsh reviews for its script and its portrayal of toxic relationships. But viewing numbers were massive in more than eighty countries, and audiences ignored the critics.
In 2020, his Instagram profile went from a few thousand followers to over ten million in less than a month. Morrone capitalized on that fame spike to launch his music career with the album Dark Room. The songs served as the soundtrack for the film itself and racked up millions of streams on streaming platforms with little to no radio promotion.
His success was not a matter of pure acting talent but of physical magnetism.
So the luxury industry didn't take long to come knocking. In 2020, he signed a contract as the global face of Dolce & Gabbana and strengthened his presence in the European advertising market. This commercial partnership allowed him to fund his own artistic projects and move away from relying exclusively on Italian film studios.
Despite the media noise, the actor tried to shake off the label of erotic object by taking on higher-budget international projects. In 2023, he joined the cast of The Next 365 Days and closed the trilogy that had given him his initial fame. But his real interest lay in the American market and genre productions.
He shot the science fiction thriller Subservience alongside Megan Fox in 2024. In the film he played a family father who acquires an android to look after his home, without imagining the consequences. The movie aimed to show that Morrone could carry a leading role in English within the framework of a Hollywood commercial film.
And the market responded.
In 2025, his role in Maserati: The Brothers was confirmed, where he shares the screen with Anthony Hopkins under the direction of Bobby Moresco. Filming in Italy allowed him to return to his professional roots, with a salary that exceeded seven figures per contract. This biographical production about the Maserati family had an estimated budget of thirty million dollars, and Morrone's contract included specific clauses on the use of his image in parallel fashion campaigns.
