Baptism in arthouse cinema

Sadie Soverall made her film debut at seventeen in Rose Plays Julie.

It was a rough start.

In 2019 she played Eva under the direction of Joe Lawlor and Christine Molloy. That shoot in Ireland let her share scenes with Ann Skelly and Orla Brady. She played a supporting role that was nonetheless crucial to the tension of a story about lost identities and family secrets.

And she did it while finishing her studies at Emmanuel School in London.

The streaming breakout

In 2021, the project that pulled her out of the independent circuit arrived. Netflix selected her to play Beatrix in Fate: The Winx Saga.

But the role was not simple. She had to bring to life an antagonist with electrifying nuances in a teen fantasy setting. The series was filmed mainly at Ashford Studios in Ireland and stayed on the air for two full seasons until it was canceled in 2022.

The British industry never let her go.

In 2023 she made a big leap when she joined Saltburn. Emerald Fennell cast her as Annabel in a production that dissected the British aristocracy with a suffocating aesthetic. Sharing the set with Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi gave her a different level of visibility in the international market.

Filming Crime and Suspense

That same 2023 she starred in Little Bone Lodge. In this horror thriller she played Maisy, a teenager trapped on an isolated farm during a storm. It was a physically demanding and dark shoot that was completely different from the bright aesthetic of her earlier television work.

So the next logical step was crime drama.

In 2024 she joined the cast of the second season of The Devil's Hour. The Prime Video series let her explore a blend of science fiction and crime alongside Jessica Raine and Peter Capaldi.

In 2025 she joined the cast of Department Q. This Netflix adaptation of Jussi Adler-Olsen's novels was filmed in Edinburgh by Left Bank Pictures. The series had a high-level production budget to recreate the atmosphere of Nordic noir on Scottish soil. Filming wrapped in spring 2025, followed by an eight-month post-production schedule.
