Interview with the Vampire

In "Interview with the Vampire," we witness how the vampire Louis reveals his supernatural nature and his long "life" over the last two centuries to a journalist. The story begins in old eighteenth-century New Orleans, when French and Spanish settlers lived along the banks of the Mississippi. Lestat, a pompous, arrogant vampire with a French accent, takes the human life of Louis de Pointe du Lac, a young Creole landowner marked by family misfortunes, and bestows upon him the dark gift: he turns him into one of his kind. From that moment on, they are bound together not only by their vampire condition but also by a love-hate bond that first leads them down similar paths and then to a tragic separation. As the decades pass, these immortal celebrities create a vampire girl named Claudia, who inevitably influences their separation.
