Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

The second of the 2 movies, "Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth", which aimed to give a conclusion worthy of the Neon Genesis Evangelion series, since it ended in a cryptic, hermetic way with its final episode 26, which was harshly criticized. The second part, "Rebirth", ran for 27 minutes and covered episodes 25 and 26. It hit theaters in 1997 and was a major box office hit in Japan. Even so, it left fans wanting more, so those two episodes were reinterpreted and re-edited into a new movie called The End of Evangelion, which ran about an hour and a half and gave the whole story an even darker ending.
