Timoteo is a surgeon who works at an Italian hospital. His fifteen-year-old daughter, Angela, has been in a motorcycle accident and is fighting for her life in the same hospital where he works. Although he is the one who should operate, Timoteo refuses to operate on the girl. While the medical team prepares a complicated procedure, he stays on the sidelines and begins to recall the events that made his daughter's existence possible. Sergio Castellitto directs the movie and stars in it alongside Penélope Cruz, who leads the female cast.
