Picasso

What Season 2 of Genius

The second season of Genius switches its focus to Pablo Picasso, the Spanish painter, sculptor, poet and playwright. It keeps alternating between two eras: the young Pablo searching for his artistic voice, and the mature Picasso trying to draw attention to the threat of fascism. Both storylines show how his creative drive mixes with his private life. Turbulent marriages, numerous love affairs and constantly shifting political and personal alliances mark each stage. The women in his life include Fernande Olivier, Olga Khokhlova, Françoise Gilot, Dora Maar and Jacqueline Roque. The tension between family and artistic relevance runs through the entire season.
