What Season 1 of The Americans

The United States and the Soviet Union face a very tense Cold War during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Philip and Elizabeth Jennings are two KGB agents settled in Falls Church, a suburb of Washington, D.C., where they pose as an ordinary American married couple. Their children, Paige and Henry, have no idea who their parents really are. Philip and Elizabeth must balance their marriage with running a network of spies and informants. Meanwhile, FBI agent Stan Beeman moves into the neighborhood, and his counterintelligence work gradually draws closer to the couple. The season shows how domestic life clashes with their missions, in a constant tug-of-war between duty and family ties.
