Beatriz Pinzón Solano, known as Betty, is a young and brilliant economist who lives with her parents in Bogotá. Not particularly attractive, she can't find a job that matches her training, so she accepts a secretarial position at Ecomoda, a clothing manufacturer. There she works for Armando Mendoza, the newly appointed president, a playboy engaged to Marcela Valencia, a shareholder in the company. The board of directors has given him the position with one condition: if he doesn't meet some very ambitious goals within a year, he must hand the presidency over to Daniel Valencia, his rival.
