Marimar

Marimar is a poor, illiterate young woman who lives in San Martín de la Costa with her grandparents and their dog, Pulgoso. To avoid going hungry, she steals food from the Santibáñez hacienda, but one day she is caught by Nicandro, the foreman, who tries to take advantage of her. Sergio Santibáñez, a young soccer player from the family that owns the hacienda, saves her, and an attraction soon grows into love between them. However, class differences weigh heavily on the couple. Angélica, Sergio's stepmother, looks down on Marimar for her simplicity and lack of education. The telenovela, produced by Televisa and aired on Las Estrellas, stars Thalía and Eduardo Capetillo and was created by Inés Rodena.
