Patrick Jane was a television psychic who made a living fooling audiences with cold reading tricks. His career changes when, on a TV show, he claims his gifts helped police profile a killer called Red John. Red John vows revenge, with a brutality that completely destroys him. Now Jane works as an independent consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation (CBI), based in Sacramento. He is neither an agent nor a police officer, but he puts his remarkable powers of observation, along with his hypnosis and illusion skills, at the service of Agent Teresa Lisbon and her team to solve murders. Jane has a personal goal: to track down Red John. Aired on CBS, the series pairs each police case with the obsession of a man who pretends to have powers he no longer possesses.
