Synopsis of Insatiable

Patty Bladell is a teenager from Masonville, a fictional town in Georgia, who endures constant bullying from her high school classmates over her weight. After an attack breaks her jaw, she spends three months on a liquid diet, loses weight and begins planning her revenge. Bob Armstrong, a disgraced lawyer who now trains pageant contestants, sees enormous potential in her and decides to make her the pageant queen. But Patty's thirst for revenge soon gets in the way of his plans, and Bob discovers how far the seventeen-year-old is willing to go before her senior year. Created by Lauren Gussis and released by Netflix, the series stars Debby Ryan.

Trivia about Insatiable

The series is based on Jeff Chu's article “The Pageant King of Alabama,” published in July 2014 in The New York Times Magazine.

The CW ordered the pilot but passed on it before Netflix picked up the series for a first season of thirteen episodes in its catalog.

More than 100,000 people signed a Change.org petition urging Netflix to cancel the series, accusing it of “fat shaming,” ahead of its premiere.

Debby Ryan listened to the body-positive podcast “She's All Fat” to prepare for her role, she told Variety.

The series has a 11% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 56 critic reviews.

Netflix canceled “Insatiable” on February 14, 2020 after two seasons, so there will be no third season.

Alyssa Milano confirmed on social media, weeks before Netflix's announcement, that the series would not return for a third season.
