Synopsis of Psych

As a boy, Shawn Spencer learned from his father, Henry, to notice what others overlook. In Santa Barbara, California, that ability lets him call the police with clues about crimes that show up on the news. The officers suspect he can't know so much without being involved in the investigation, and Shawn, to avoid ending up behind bars, convinces them he has psychic powers. From that moment on, he fakes trances and visions while helping law enforcement. His childhood best friend, Burton «Gus» Guster, a much more cautious man, gets dragged into the charade. Created by Steve Franks, the series airs on USA Network and stars James Roday and Dulé Hill.

Trivia about Psych

Roday improvised in the pilot by picking up a pineapple and asking whether he should cut it up for the road. Since then, it has appeared in every episode as a recurring gag.
A Spanish-language version of the theme song plays in the episode «Lights, Camera... Homicide» and another in «No Country for Two Old Men», both from different seasons.
Psych was nominated for his first Emmy in 2010 in the Outstanding Music Composition for a Series category, for the episode «Mr. Yin Presents...».
The premiere earned a rating of 4.51 and averaged 6.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched scripted series premiere on basic cable in 2006 across all key demographics.
The series got a follow-up on the big screen: in 2017, USA Network aired Psych: The Movie, a two-hour film that led to a franchise of feature-length movies.
Rotten Tomatoes gave the first three seasons an overall rating of 89% “Fresh.”
Although the series is set in Santa Barbara, California, it was filmed in White Rock, in Canada's British Columbia.
Timothy Omundson was the only actor hired directly after his audition, because the producers decided to cast him as Carlton Lassiter on the spot.
