Synopsis of Jericho

Jericho is a television series aired by CBS, created by Stephen Chbosky and starring Skeet Ulrich and Lennie James. The story takes place in Jericho, a small town in northwestern Kansas, after a nuclear attack on 23 cities in the United States. At first, the townspeople see the mushroom cloud of an unknown origin on the horizon over Denver and assume it is an accident. However, a teenager shows a recording of a phone call from his mother in Atlanta, cut off by the blast of an explosion, which confirms the tragedy is not isolated. As the town loses electricity and communication with the outside world, its residents wonder whether they are the only Americans left alive and fight to survive in the midst of isolation.

Trivia about Jericho

The series began as a feature film idea by its co-creators Jonathan Steinberg and Josh Schaer, who ended up turning it into a television series when they felt two and a half hours was not enough.

Although the series is set in Kansas, most of it was filmed on a soundstage in Van Nuys, California.

Fans sent just over 20 tons of nuts to CBS headquarters, a reference to a scene from the end of the first season.

A fan campaign convinced the network to revive the series with a second season of seven episodes, after which it was canceled again.

In its first season, it averaged 9.5 million viewers in the United States and ranked 48 in ratings.

In 2017, Skeet Ulrich said a third season was in development with Netflix, though it was ultimately canceled.

On Metacritic, the first season scored 48 out of 100, and the second season scored 72 out of 100.
