Synopsis of Perception

Chicago. Dr. Daniel Pierce teaches neuroscience at a university in the city. Despite his brilliance, he lives with paranoid schizophrenia, which fills his days with voices and images no one else can perceive. His former student Kate Moretti, now an FBI agent, asks him to help the federal office with the most difficult criminal cases. Pierce agrees, and his mind, which often plays tricks on him, begins to supply clues the police can't find. He is accompanied by his assistant Max Lewicki, who keeps him grounded, and Natalie Vincent, a hallucination who has become his best friend. The challenge lies in separating what is real from what his mind invents as he tries to solve the crimes. Created by Kenneth Biller and Mike Sussman, the series airs on TNT and stars Eric McCormack.

Trivia about Perception

The series was originally titled "Proof" and already appeared on TNT's development list in 2009, before the network ordered the pilot.

The series is set in Chicago, but the pilot was shot in Toronto, Canada, and production later moved to Los Angeles.

The character of Max Lewicki was conceived as a perpetual student who had spent nine years in university, with sixteen majors and no degree.

The third season's broadcast was halted in August 2014, after episode 10, and the remaining five episodes began airing on February 17, 2015.

The premiere of "Perception" drew 5.6 million viewers and became the second most-watched cable series premiere of the year, behind TNT's "Dallas."

TNT renewed the series for a second season of 13 episodes after it ranked among the top summer shows in basic cable ratings.

Scott Wolf joined the series as a regular in season two, playing Donnie, Kate Moretti's ex-husband. Previously, the actor had appeared in shows such as "Party of Five" and "V."
