Synopsis of Spin City

Spin City is set in the New York City Hall, a fictional version of the mayor's office. At its center is Mike Flaherty, the deputy mayor played by Michael J. Fox, a skilled professional at handling political spin and the chaos of an office, but careless about his personal life. His mission is to protect Mayor Randall Winston, played by Barry Bostwick, from both the rivals who want to bring down his career and his own mistakes, since the mayor often makes a fool of himself. Working alongside them is press secretary Paul Lassiter, played by Richard Kind, the office snitch and a skilled manipulator, along with a team of quirky employees. The comedy was created by Gary David Goldberg and Bill Lawrence and airs on ABC.

Trivia about Spin City

The series was originally titled Spin, but ABC could not secure the rights to the name of a music magazine with a similar title, so it was changed.
Spin City was one of six series that DreamWorks Television produced before DreamWorks Pictures launched, and the only one considered a hit when the film studio got started in 1997.
The series won four Golden Globes, three for Michael J. Fox and one for Charlie Sheen, out of nine nominations in total.
Michael J. Fox left the series after season four due to symptoms of his Parkinson's disease, and Charlie Sheen took over the lead role for the last two seasons.
To reduce Fox's workload, the writers introduced the character Caitlin Moore, played by Heather Locklear, at the start of season 1999-2000.
After Fox's departure, production moved the setting from New York to Los Angeles, and three cast members did not continue on the series.
The series won two Primetime Emmy Awards and earned fourteen wins and thirty-eight nominations in total.
