Synopsis of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

In Las Vegas, Nevada, a team of forensic investigators works for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Their job is always the same: comb through the scene of a murder, collect physical evidence and turn it into the proof that points to the culprit. Leading the team is Dr. Gil Grissom, a forensic entomologist, a reserved man with little social ease who reads a crime scene through insects and small details. Working alongside him is Catherine Willows, his right hand, a single mother with a cop's instincts. Created by Anthony E. Zuiker and Ann Donahue and airing on CBS, the series blends scientific deduction with the characters' personal drama and the pressure of solving each case from what criminals leave behind.

Trivia about CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

CSI became the most-watched show on American television in 2002, and CBS used its success to launch a franchise.
The idea came from a Discovery Channel program that Zuiker's wife told him about, focused on forensic techniques and DNA as evidence.
William Petersen, who was already under contract with CBS, got the chance to star in the series pilot.
The first episodes were filmed at Rye Canyon, a Lockheed corporate campus located in Santa Clarita, California.
After the eleventh episode, filming moved to Santa Clarita Studios, and only the Las Vegas street scenes were shot in the city itself.
The theme song is "Who Are You" by The Who, written by Pete Townshend.
Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who, made a guest appearance in season seven, in the episode "Living Legend."
A cover of "Mad World" by Tears for Fears played in the pilot and in three episodes of season six.
