Synopsis of Bosch

Harry Bosch, played by Titus Welliver, is a homicide detective with the Los Angeles Police Department. He is a sharp investigator who follows the rules, though he can be a bit of a maverick. While he awaits trial for shooting a suspect in self-defense and faces a civil lawsuit from the man's widow, Bosch is assigned a gruesome case. The bones of a twelve-year-old boy are found in the Hollywood Hills. Bosch wants to identify the victim and find out who killed him, all while his own legal situation weighs on every move he makes. The series, developed by Eric Overmyer for Amazon and streaming on Prime Video, is inspired by novels by Michael Connelly.

«Every murder tells the tale of a city.»

Trivia about Bosch

The pilot changed the role of the civil rights attorney. In the pilot, Amy Price-Francis played her as Sunny Chandler, but for the series the name went back to Honey Chandler and the role was taken on by Mimi Rogers.

Filming in Los Angeles lasted 13 days and began on November 4, 2013. During that time, Michael Connelly kept a production diary.

In the books, Harry was born in 1950, and he gained his tunnel experience during the Vietnam War. In the series, he is 47 years old and is a veteran of the first Gulf War in 1991.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season has a 83% approval rating based on 30 reviews, with an average score of 7.1/10.

Amazon canceled the series in February 2020, but confirmed that the seventh season would be the last and that there would be no eighth installment of the original production.

The cancellation paved the way for «Bosch: Legacy», a sequel that premiered in 2022 with Titus Welliver, Mimi Rogers and Madison Lintz. The story brings back Bosch as a private investigator and Maddie as a rookie agent.

«Bosch: Legacy» ended after three seasons. The third was the first installment of the franchise released directly on Prime Video, and its final episode aired on April 17, 2025.

In September 2024, Amazon MGM Studios announced the end of «Bosch: Legacy», while the TV universe continued with the spin-off «Ballard» and the prequel «Bosch: Start of Watch».
