Synopsis of The Killing

Detective Sarah Linden of the Seattle police spends her last day on the force before retiring. That same afternoon, she plans to leave the city with her son Jack to join her fiancé in Sonoma. Stephen Holder, who is set to take over for her, is ready to step into her role, but before she can leave, a call comes in: a patrol unit has found a bloodstained sweater in a field belonging to Rosie Larsen, a missing young woman. Created by Veena Sud for AMC, the series starring Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman is set in Seattle and follows both detectives as they investigate a murder that has just begun.

Trivia about The Killing

The series is filmed in Vancouver, in Canada's British Columbia, and some scenes from the second season were shot at Riverview Hospital in Coquitlam.
The pilot was AMC's second-most-watched original series premiere, behind The Walking Dead.
The UK premiere, aired on Channel 4, drew 2.2 million viewers.
Critic Heather Havrilevsky of The New York Times Magazine compared the finale of the first season to a 26-hour episode of Law & Order.
Critics and fans of the first three seasons pointed out similarities and elements borrowed from Twin Peaks, the series by David Lynch.
"The Killing" received six nominations for the 2011 Emmy Awards, including Best Actress for Mireille Enos, Best Supporting Actress for Michelle Forbes, Outstanding Writing, and Outstanding Drama Series Ensemble.
AMC canceled the series in July 2012, but renewed it for a third season of 12 episodes after renegotiating production with Fox Television Studios and Netflix.
After canceling it again in September 2013, Netflix ordered a fourth and final season of six episodes, released in full on August 1, 2014.
