Synopsis of Eureka

After World War II, President Harry S. Truman, advised by Albert Einstein, secretly commissions a city to protect the country's greatest minds. It is called Eureka, hidden in a remote corner of Oregon behind an electromagnetic shield, and it is run by Global Dynamics, a corporation overseen by the Department of Defense. There, geniuses live with their families, and their inventions often go wrong. Federal agent Jack Carter, an ordinary man of average intelligence, arrives in town while transporting his daughter Zoe, a rebellious teenager who dreams of seeing her parents back together. A car accident leaves them trapped in Eureka, a place whose location no unauthorized person may know. Created by Andrew Cosby and Jaime Paglia, the series airs on Syfy and stars Colin Ferguson.

Trivia about Eureka

The series premiere was watched by 4.1 million people, making it the most-watched cable program of that night and the best series launch in Sci-Fi's history.
In 2007, Eureka was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Series, but the award went to Battlestar Galactica.
After the cancellation was announced, a fan campaign took off on social media, and thousands of followers protested the decision they believed the network had made.
Executive producer Amy Berg clarified that the decision to cancel the series was made by Comcast, the majority partner of NBCUniversal, which owns Syfy.
On August 8, 2011, Syfy announced there would be no sixth season, but an extra episode of the fifth season was approved to give the series a proper ending.
The soundtrack for the second season was released on August 26, 2008 by La La Land Records, featuring 28 tracks from the series.
The original music for the first season was composed by Mutato Muzika, and from the second season onward, the job was handled by Bear McCreary.
Jordan Hinson explained that she auditioned for Zoe Carter alongside seven actresses who were testing for Jack Carter and two other candidates; in the end, the chemistry between the two actors decided the casting.
