Synopsis of Malcolm in the Middle

Malcolm in the Middle is a twelve-year-old boy who lives in a suburban neighborhood in the United States, in a fictional area known as "Tri-County." He is the third of the brothers and lives with his parents, Hal and Lois, and his brothers Reese and Dewey, a dysfunctional working-class family. In the first episode, it is revealed that he has an IQ of 165, which gets him placed in a class for gifted students. There, his classmates mock the so-called "Krelboynes," and Malcolm in the Middle hates being part of that group. Created by Linwood Boomer, the series airs on FOX and stars Frankie Muniz as Malcolm in the Middle, alongside Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston as his parents.

Trivia about Malcolm in the Middle

The premiere drew more than 23 million viewers and was Fox's highest-rated series premiere since The Simpsons in 1990.

The song "Boss of Me" by They Might Be Giants won the award for Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 2002 Grammys.

In the credits, when Frankie Muniz's name appears, a giant brain is shown, and Jane Kaczmarek's name is accompanied by a monster rising from the ocean.

The title sequence was created by Jeff Wunderlich, who also did the ones for Friends and Scrubs.

To assemble the opening credits, Wunderlich copied footage from the show onto VHS tapes, played them on his tube TV, and moved them by hand with pans and zooms.

The exterior of Malcolm in the Middle's house was a private property in Studio City that was rented for more than 3000 US dollars a day.

It doesn't use a laugh track. Instead, ambient music sets the tone of each scene, with artists like ABBA, Queen, or Phil Collins.

In the film The Disaster Artist (2017), Bryan Cranston appears as himself and offers Greg Sestero a guest role on an episode.
