Synopsis of The King of Queens

In Rego Park, a working-class neighborhood in Queens, New York, Doug Heffernan delivers packages for a courier company and comes home each night hoping for some peace. His wife, Carrie, is a secretary in Manhattan and shares a modest home with him on Aberdeen Street, where her eccentric father, Arthur Spooner, also lives. Arthur's demands overwhelm the couple, who watch their refuge fill up with other people's routines. Doug tries to keep his marriage together while his in-laws invade every corner of the house. Kevin James and Leah Remini star in this CBS sitcom, created by Michael J. Weithorn and David Litt, with Jerry Stiller as Arthur.

Trivia about The King of Queens

Starting with the second season, the series debuted a new theme song, "Baby All My Life I Will Be Driving Home to You," written by writers Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa and performed by Billy Vera and the Beaters.
Hanley Productions and CBS Productions produced the series, which was filmed at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California.
All the episodes of the series, which totaled 207 of half-hour running time, were taped in front of a live studio audience.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season received a 33% "rotten" rating, while the ninth season reached 85% "fresh."
In 2006, Kevin James received a Primetime Emmy nomination for his performance as Doug Heffernan.
The series won BMI awards in the television music category in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
Victor Williams was nominated in 2007 for the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.
Jerry Stiller initially turned down the role of Arthur Spooner, and the pilot was shot with Jack Carter; when Stiller accepted the part, all of Carter's scenes had to be reshot.
