Synopsis of The Good Wife

Chicago. Alicia Florrick has spent more than a decade devoted to her home and children, until her husband, Peter, a former Cook County state's attorney, is sent to prison for political corruption and a sex scandal that makes headlines. With the family left without income and forced to leave the luxury neighborhood where they lived, Alicia decides to return to work as a litigator. She lands a probationary position at the law firm Lockhart & Gardner, thanks to the support of Will Gardner, an old friend from law school. However, she will have to compete with Cary Agos for the only permanent spot available and prove her worth to colleagues who know all too well what her husband has been through. The series, created by Robert and Michelle King and aired on CBS, stars Julianna Margulies.

Trivia about The Good Wife

The creators got the idea in the weeks after the 2008 prostitution scandal involving Eliot Spitzer, when they began wondering about the wives who stayed by their husbands' sides.
Although the story is set in Chicago and the pilot was shot in Vancouver, the rest of the production was filmed in New York, with an interior set in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared as himself in 2013. His successor, Bill de Blasio, said he was "deeply obsessed" with the series and also made an appearance.
Kristin Chenoweth was set to have a recurring role as a reporter in season four, but she was seriously injured in an accident on set in 2012.
The series was praised for producing full seasons of 22 episodes, while other equally acclaimed dramas often did between 6 and 13.
Archie Panjabi won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Kalinda Sharma.
In the episode "Foreign Affairs," Matt Czuchry played Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez using makeup and prosthetics, a choice the creators described as part of the production.
The spin-off "The Good Fight" was ordered in 2016 for CBS All Access, with Christine Baranski returning as Diane Lockhart and Cush Jumbo rejoining the cast; it premiered in February 2017.
