Synopsis of Masters of Sex
Masters of Sex is a series created by Michelle Ashford and aired on Showtime. It is set from the 1950s into the early 1960s at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Michael Sheen plays Dr. William Masters, a respected fertility specialist who in 1956 begins a study of human sexuality. He knows that the university's dean, Barton Scully, played by Beau Bridges, will not look kindly on his project. To move it forward, he teams up with Virginia Johnson, played by Lizzy Caplan, and together they embark on pioneering research into sex. The series explores both that work and the personal and professional relationship that binds them.
