Synopsis of The Undoing

Grace Fraser is a successful therapist who lives in New York with her husband, Jonathan, and their teenage son, a student at an elite private school. Her marriage seems solid and her routine orderly, until the mother of one of her son's classmates is murdered on the same night Jonathan disappears. The crime reaches the doorstep of a wealthy family who thought they were safe, and Grace begins to wonder what she really knows about the man she shares her life with. The limited series, created by David E. Kelley for HBO, stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant. Its premise asks how far a woman will go to protect her loved ones when the truth starts to unravel.

Trivia about The Undoing

The series was HBO's first show to draw a growing audience every week throughout the season.

In the United Kingdom, it became the biggest American show ever launched on Sky, breaking the record previously held by Game of Thrones.

In November 2018, it was announced that Hugh Grant and Donald Sutherland had been cast in the lead roles.

The planned shoot on Shelter Island was canceled due to objections from residents, so the beach scenes were filmed on the North Fork of Long Island.

Its premiere, originally scheduled for May 10, 2020, was pushed back to October 25 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Susanne Bier directed all six episodes of the limited series, after David E. Kelley developed the adaptation of Jean Hanff Korelitz's novel "You Should Have Known."

"The Undoing" earned 37 nominations and three awards, along with nominations for Hugh Grant, Nicole Kidman, and Donald Sutherland at the Golden Globes and the Emmys.

Susanne Bier stated that there were no concrete plans for a second season, although she did not completely rule out the possibility that HBO could revive the show.
