Trivia about Presumed Innocent

The Scott Turow novel the series is based on, published in 1987, had already been adapted for the big screen in 1990 starring Harrison Ford and Brian Dennehy.

The first season received four acting nominations at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, for Jake Gyllenhaal, Ruth Negga, Bill Camp and Peter Sarsgaard.

Metacritic gave the series a score of 64 out of 100 based on 33 critics, indicating generally favorable reviews.

Variety critic Aramide Tinubu called it one of the best legal thrillers to reach television in years.

Apple TV+ renewed the series for a second season in July 2024, which will feature an entirely new case and keep David E. Kelley, Scott Turow, J. J. Abrams and Jake Gyllenhaal as executive producers.

The second season began filming in Los Angeles on December 18, 2025 and moved production to Boston in April 2026.
