Synopsis of Chicago P.D.

Chicago P.D. follows the day-to-day work of District 21 of the Chicago Police Department, where uniformed officers who patrol the streets work alongside the Intelligence Unit, which is tasked with pursuing those responsible for the most serious crimes. Leading the detectives is Sergeant Hank Voight, played by Jason Beghe, a veteran who refuses to simply keep the city calm and looks for new strategies to fight crime. The story takes place in today's Chicago, where every investigation tests the officers and forces them to decide how far they are willing to go. Created by Dick Wolf and Matt Olmstead, the series airs on NBC. Its central conflict is a constant question: how do you protect a community when the rules don't always help you do it?

Trivia about Chicago P.D.

The idea came about in March 2013, when NBC was considering a Chicago Fire spin-off focused on the Chicago Police Department.

The exterior of the precinct is the former Old Maxwell Street Police Station, the same location Hill Street Blues had already used.

Scott Eastwood and Tania Raymonde left the series in December 2013 over creative differences, shortly before its premiere.

Metacritic gives it a score of 50 out of 100 based on 22 reviews, indicating mixed or average reviews.

In Spain, La 1 aired the series in prime time, but after six episodes the network moved it to the early morning hours.

NBC renewed "Chicago P.D." for a fourteenth season as part of its 2026-2027 lineup, alongside "Chicago Fire" and "Chicago Med."

The fourteenth season of "Chicago P.D." premiered on October 7, 2026 at 22:00 Eastern Time on NBC and became available the next day on Peacock.

The series filmed its first original holiday episode during the fourteenth season, as Marina Squerciati confirmed while sharing behind-the-scenes footage.
