Synopsis of Major Crimes

Major Crimes is a police drama created by James Duff, airing on TNT and starring Mary McDonnell. Captain Sharon Raydor, a former internal affairs officer, takes over the Major Crimes Division of the Los Angeles Police Department after Brenda Leigh Johnson's departure, a move that shakes up the entire force. Her new team doesn't trust her. Meanwhile, the controversial policies she introduced as head of the Use of Force Investigation Division begin to have unintended effects on crime scenes. In her private life, she takes in Rusty Beck, a teenager who will be a key witness in the trial against serial killer Phillip Stroh. Raydor wants to build solid cases that lead suspects to confess, but her personal drama starts to seep into her work.

Trivia about Major Crimes

The first episode drew 9.5 million viewers, the biggest audience ever for a series premiere on basic cable, helped by the early airing of The Closer's finale.
TNT renewed the series for a second season of 15 episodes after averaging more than 7 million viewers in the first.
The final season of The Closer added six episodes to its usual 15, and the last six served as the basis for a possible spin-off.
On Metacritic, the series earned a score of 65/100 based on 17 critic reviews, with "generally favorable" reviews.
From 2026, Major Crimes is available to stream on Pluto TV and Netflix.
In October 2017, TNT announced that the sixth season, initially renewed for 13 episodes, would be the series' last, and that episode 100 would air on December 19.
James Duff said the decision to end "Major Crimes" was not his and had no creative reason behind it, and that the team would have kept going as long as the show remained relevant.
The sixth season concluded with a two-part episode scheduled for January 16, 2018, although some broadcast guides list the finale as airing on January 9 and count 105 episodes.
