Synopsis of Person of Interest

New York City, after the 11-S attacks. John Reese is a former Green Beret and ex-CIA operative who survives as a homeless drifter, presumed dead and drowning his sorrows in alcohol. Harold Finch, a lonely, extremely reserved billionaire and gifted computer programmer, offers him a job. For the U.S. government, Finch has developed the Machine, a system that analyzes surveillance cameras, electronic communications and audio recordings to anticipate terrorist attacks. But the program also detects people involved in everyday crimes, which the government considers irrelevant. Finch needs a field agent, so the two try to prevent those deaths before they happen. The series airs on CBS and was created by Jonathan Nolan, with Jim Caviezel and Michael Emerson leading the cast.

Trivia about Person of Interest

The series was canceled after its fifth season because it wasn’t profitable enough for CBS, as much of the ad revenue went to Warner Bros., the show’s owner.

The series won the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Dramatic TV Series in 2012 and Favorite Crime Drama TV Show in 2016.

The music is by Ramin Djawadi, and the soundtrack for the first season was released on November 12, 2012.

Following Edward Snowden’s revelations about the NSA’s secret surveillance programs, Jonathan Nolan said the series saw a spike in attention during its third season.

By the time the series ended, 71 of its 103 episodes had a rating above 9 out of 10 among IMDb users, according to the count published in October 2016.

Creators Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman did not rule out continuing the series’ universe through a sequel or spin-off after its cancellation.
