Synopsis of Supernatural

Sam Winchester lives in Stanford, California, with his girlfriend Jessica and attends university, far from the world he knew as a child. One day, his older brother Dean shows up at his door with unsettling news: their father, John, has gone off on a "hunting trip" and hasn't been heard from in days. The two brothers travel the back roads of the United States aboard a 1967 Chevrolet Impala. Their goal is to find John while battling ghosts, demons and other supernatural threats that appear in every town. Created by Eric Kripke and aired on The WB and later on The CW, the series stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles.

«Saving people, hunting things, the family business.»

Trivia about Supernatural

Kripke made the brothers natives of Lawrence, Kansas, near the Stull Cemetery, well known for its urban legends.
The names Sam and Dean came from a tribute to On the Road, Jack Kerouac's novel, which also inspired John Winchester's journal.
The protagonists' father was going to be named Jack, but since there was already a Jack Winchester in Kansas, Kripke renamed him John.
The car was supposed to be a 1965 Ford Mustang, but a neighbor of Kripke's convinced them to go with a 1967 Chevrolet Impala.
The pilot episode was filmed in Los Angeles, but most of the series was shot in Vancouver, Canada.
The series received eighteen Constellation Awards, four Leo Awards, nine People's Choice Awards, and two Teen Choice Awards.
Jensen Ackles initially auditioned for the role of Sam Winchester, but Eric Kripke and the team ultimately decided to cast him as Dean, while Jared Padalecki landed the role of Sam.
The third season was originally planned for 22 episodes, but the Writers Guild of America strike of 2007–2008 cut its run down to 16 episodes.
