Kim Rhodes

From Oregon Stages to Hotel Hustle

Kim Rhodes earned a Fine Arts degree before realizing TV pays better than Shakespeare. In 1996 she landed on the set of Another World to play Cindy Harrison. That role in one of the longest-running soap operas in the United States gave her the stage experience she needed to survive the industry.

She moved to Los Angeles with a resume full of drama.

In 2005 she signed the contract that changed her financial visibility. She played Carey Martin in The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. She was the single mother who worked at the Tipton hotel while her twin sons wrecked the furniture. But the initial contract only covered a few episodes before the producers decided to extend her stay for three seasons.

The gamble paid off.

The Authority of Sioux Falls

In 2010, she first appeared in the episode Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid of the fifth season of Supernatural. Her character was Sheriff Jody Mills. Rhodes was brought in for a single episode and ended up staying for an entire decade in the Winchester brothers' world.

And she did it without ever having to be a romantic interest. Her bond with fans grew organically through conventions and social media. But the industry is fickle when it comes to spin-offs. In 2018, she led the pilot of Wayward Sisters, and The CW decided not to move forward with the series despite pressure from viewers.

No miracle here.

Voice Acting and New Formats

In 2022 and 2023 she voiced several characters in the animated series Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight. It's a field where she feels at ease because voice work lets her step away from constant physical exposure. Rhodes has spoken openly about her autism diagnosis in adulthood and how it shapes the way she works on set.

In 2024 she took part in the fiction podcast Hypnogogia, playing Dr. Aris Thorne. It's an audio production recorded to immersive audio standards for digital platforms.
