Synopsis of American Horror Stories

American Horror Stories is an anthology horror series created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk that airs on FX on Hulu. Each episode presents a distinct, self-contained story, so viewers don't follow a single continuous plot throughout the season. The first episode is a two-part premiere set in Murder House, the home where the first season of American Horror Story takes place. Matt Bomer, Gavin Creel, Sierra McCormick, Paris Jackson and Aaron Tveit star in the first two chapters. Some episodes connect to earlier seasons of the main series, while others introduce new elements. Its premise is built on the anthology format, with stories that begin with an unsettling situation, each developing its own horror conflict.

Trivia about American Horror Stories

The third season was filmed in New Jersey, a detail that wasn't made public until 2023.

The opening title sequence was created by Elastic, the same studio behind the one for Game of Thrones. Each episode has its own title sequence, except for the first two, which share one.

The fourth episode of the first season, "The Naughty List," uses a remix of the theme music from American Horror Story: 1984, but with a higher-pitched tone.

Its premiere was the most successful of any FX on Hulu series to date, according to the network itself.

Nielsen recorded 327 million minutes viewed in the week of October 23 to 29, 2023, ranking it ninth among the most-watched original series on streaming.

The series had especially strong international demand in Spain, according to January 2025 data.

It was one of 200 television series to receive the ReFrame stamp for 2022 and 2023, awarded for hiring women in four of the eight key production roles.

Hulu surprise-announced the fourth season of «American Horror Stories» on October 11, 2024, with five episodes and new cast additions, with its premiere set for later that same month.
