Synopsis of NCIS

A team of federal agents from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service handles the highest-profile cases involving the Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Its headquarters is at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C., where it receives investigations that attract significant public attention. The group, known as the Major Case Response Team, is led by Leroy Jethro Gibbs, a former Marine sergeant with sniper experience and a gift for investigation. Some assignments involve possible terrorist attacks, as long as they are connected to the Navy. The series, created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, airs on CBS and stars Mark Harmon.

Trivia about NCIS

The original title was often misquoted and parodied as "Navy CSI," something the show itself mentioned in the first episode to respond to the jokes.
In January 2013, the series broke its previous viewership record thanks to the episode "Shiva" from the tenth season, which drew 22.86 million viewers.
In 2011, a Harris online poll named NCIS the favorite TV show of Americans, under the title "America's favorite television show."
The series surpassed the record held by Gunsmoke as the prime-time drama with the most seasons aired on CBS.
The Ubisoft video game, released in 2011, received a 2/10 from GameSpot, and both critics and players considered it a parody of the series.
CBS Records released the series' first soundtrack on February 10, 2009, a double disc with 22 tracks.
Starting with the second season episode "Lt. Jane Doe," the series shows two-second black-and-white clips called "phoofs" at the beginning of each segment.
In 2016, The New York Times noted that the series is especially popular in rural areas, particularly in rural Maine and Pennsylvania.
