Synopsis of True Blood

Sookie Stackhouse is a telepathic waitress who works at Merlotte's bar in the small rural town of Bon Temps, Louisiana. Since Japanese scientists invented a synthetic blood called Tru Blood, vampires have come out of the coffin and revealed themselves to the world, but not everyone accepts that they should have the same rights as humans. One night, Sookie saves Bill Compton, the first vampire to walk into the bar, from an attempted assault. Meanwhile, her brother Jason is linked to the murders of several women who were alone with him, and tension between humans and vampires begins to rise. The series, created by Alan Ball for HBO, stars Anna Paquin and is based on the novels by Charlaine Harris.

Trivia about True Blood

The first episode debuted with 1.44 million viewers, below the ratings of premieres such as Big Love (4.56 million) and John from Cincinnati (3.4 million) on the same network.
The ninth episode of the fourth season set a record for the series, with 5.53 million viewers, making it the most-watched episode up to that point.
Gary Calamar, the series’ music supervisor, wanted the soundtrack to sound “swampy, bluesy and creepy,” and to include local musicians from Louisiana.
Episode titles are taken from songs heard in the episode, usually during the closing credits.
Digital Kitchen spent four days in Louisiana shooting part of the opening sequence, and also filmed at a church in Chicago and on a stage and in a bar in Seattle.
