The weight of being Lincoln Burrows' son

Marshall Allman was born in Austin on April 5, 1984 and grew up with football as his top priority. But acting came along early. Instead of following a sports career, he decided to move to Los Angeles at seventeen to try his luck in acting.

In 2005, Allman landed on the set of Prison Break to play LJ Burrows. It was not an easy role, since he had to carry the emotional drama of a conspiracy-driven plot from a teenager's point of view. That job meant a steady paycheck for the first time in his brief professional career.

And she made it happen.

The show became an instant global phenomenon. That exposure allowed him to work with actors such as Wentworth Miller over four on-and-off seasons. But typecasting loomed, and Allman needed to break away from the image of the vulnerable young man he projected on Fox.

From werewolves to creative control

In 2010, he joined the cast of True Blood as Tommy Mickens. The character was a rage-filled shapeshifter who pushed him to explore much more aggressive physical work. He appeared in more than twenty episodes of the HBO series before his character was written out of the main storyline.

It was an intense technical learning process.

So he decided to diversify his career so he wouldn't depend solely on his agent's calls. In 2016 he appeared in the series Humans, playing Milo Khoury. That role as a tech genius reflected a shift toward more cerebral, less youthful parts that suited his physical maturity better (and his interest in science fiction).

Production Years and Guerrilla Filmmaking

Because the big studio system no longer offered what Allman was looking for, he began producing his own projects. In 2019 he starred in The Last Whistle, where he returned to his Texas roots to tell a story about high school American football. The film was shot in just eighteen days on a very tight budget.

His commitment to independent film was firm.

In 2020, he appeared in The Wolf of Snow Hollow, directed by Jim Cummings. The shoot took place in Utah under extreme weather conditions that demanded extra physical effort from the crew. Still, the result was one of the genre films best reviewed by critics during that period.

His work in 2022 with A Place in the Field confirmed his interest in low-budget auteur cinema. The film was shot in desert locations in the American Southwest. The final crew numbered fewer than thirty people, including catering and transport staff.
