Synopsis of Prison Break

Lincoln Burrows awaits execution at Fox River State Penitentiary, a maximum-security prison near Chicago. He is accused of murdering Terrence Steadman, brother of the U.S. vice president, but he insists he is innocent. His younger brother, Michael Scofield, is a structural engineer and does not believe that version. Determined to prove it, he devises a meticulous plan to get him out, and to do so he has himself locked up in the same prison. The series, created by Paul Scheuring and aired on the Fox network, stars Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell and follows the two brothers as they prepare an escape that demands absolute precision.

Trivia about Prison Break

The Joliet prison, closed in 2002 but not demolished, became 2005 the setting for Fox River State Penitentiary.
Lincoln's cell was reportedly once occupied by serial killer John Wayne Gacy, and at least one member of the production crew refused to enter it, believing it was supposedly haunted.
In France, broadcaster M6 replaced the theme music with "Pas le temps" by rapper Faf Larage, which generated buzz for the series.
In its first two episodes, the series was the seventh most-watched show of the week on American television, with 10.5 million viewers.
The episode "Chicago" from the second season drew the largest audience of that season, with an average of 10.1 million viewers.
Between August 5 and August 11, 2024, Prison Break was the most-streamed show in the United States, with 1.6 billion minutes watched.
Wentworth Miller was cast to play Michael Scofield just one week before filming began, while Dominic Purcell joined the cast three days before production started.
In October 2025, Hulu ordered a new series set in the universe of "Prison Break", with Elgin James as creator and a new cast led by Emily Browning; no premiere date has been announced yet.
