Inbar Lavi landed in New York at seventeen with barely three thousand dollars in her pocket. She didn't know a soul. She enrolled at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and started hustling to make ends meet while her savings disappeared into shared apartment rents.
Her family in Israel thought the American dream would be a passing phase. But she decided to move to Los Angeles in 2007 after winning a scholarship that let her skip the return ticket. In California the pace was different, and auditions became her daily routine.
There was no Plan B.
Her first years were a parade of episodic roles on CSI: Miami and Entourage. They were supporting characters that barely covered basic expenses. And despite the hardship, she never stopped studying the scripts that came her way, even when they had only two lines of dialogue.
In 2012, Underemployed came to MTV. It was her first real experience with a long-running production, where she played a street singer. That contract allowed her to leave temporary jobs behind and focus exclusively on acting professionally.
The turning point came in 2017 with the premiere of Imposters. Lavi took on the role of Maddie, a con artist who changed identity, accent and personality in every episode to deceive her victims. It was a technical challenge that required her to work with several dialect coaches at the same time.
Critics noticed her because she avoided falling into the easy caricature. But the series was canceled after two seasons, and the actress had to find a new foothold in the streaming industry. So she accepted the role of Eva in the fourth season of Lucifer in 2019.
Her bet on the fantasy genre paid off.
Her portrayal of the first woman in the Bible brought a mix of innocence and danger that the writers hadn't originally planned. Her contract was extended through the end of the series in 2021 due to the audience's positive response in test screenings.
In 2023 she joined the cast of the fourth season of Fauda. It was a strategic move to reconnect with the industry of her home country after a decade working almost exclusively in English. Shooting in Hebrew and Arabic let her explore a far rawer storyline than the mainstream American networks offer.
She took part in the psychological thriller Vronika in 2024. The shoot demanded far more physical effort than anything she had done before. Independent film became her main refuge after years tied to major television studios.
The film industry is a game of endurance.
In 2025, her name was linked to two European-funded projects that have not yet started filming. The total budget for these films exceeds twelve million euros, and executive production is handled by independent French studios. The actress keeps her residence in Los Angeles, although she spends more than six months a year on the road at international locations.
