Synopsis of Elementary

Elementary is a television series created by Robert Doherty and aired on the CBS network. It moves Arthur Conan Doyle's detective to New York City. Sherlock Holmes is a former Scotland Yard consultant who arrives in the United States after a stint in a rehab center for drug addiction. His father, a wealthy man, forces him to settle in Manhattan with a sober companion, Dr. Joan Watson. Joan was a successful surgeon until she lost a patient, and now sees this job as another chance to help people. Captain Thomas Gregson of the NYPD knows Holmes from his time at Scotland Yard and takes him onto his team. Over time, the consultant and the doctor form a duo that solves crimes all over the city.

Trivia about Elementary

Before the premiere, it received some criticism for arriving shortly after Sherlock, the BBC's modern adaptation.

The second season premiere was partly filmed on location in London.

By the end of the second season, Jonny Lee Miller had become the actor who has played Sherlock Holmes the most times on television or in film, ahead of Jeremy Brett and Eille Norwood.

The character of Kitty Winter is based on another of Doyle's characters, from his story about a distinguished client.

It earned two Primetime Emmy nominations, for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and for Outstanding Main Title Design.

Lucy Liu agreed to play Joan Watson because the role offered a friendship between Sherlock and Watson and allowed the gender of Doyle's character to be changed.

Jonny Lee Miller did not have to hide his tattoos during filming, a decision that helped with his portrayal of the series' contemporary Sherlock Holmes.

In December 2018, CBS announced that the seventh season would be the last. The cancellation came as the contracts of Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller expired, in addition to declining ratings.
