Synopsis of Why Women Kill

Three women from different eras live in the same Pasadena mansion and suffer their husbands' infidelity. In 1963, Beth Ann Stanton is a sweet, polite housewife who is content with her role, until she discovers that her husband, Rob, is cheating on her, which worsens an already strained marriage. In 1984, Simone Grove, a twice-divorced socialite, marries Karl, her third husband, and soon senses he is hiding something. In the present day, Taylor Harding, a feminist lawyer, has an open marriage with Eli, a screenwriter. Created by Marc Cherry, the series airs on Paramount+ and stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Lucy Liu and Kirby Howell-Baptiste.

Trivia about Why Women Kill

The series was reported to receive 8.4 million dollars in tax credits from the state of California, a figure made public in December 2018.

In October 2019, CBS All Access announced the second season, and executive Julie McNamara highlighted that the series had become one of its most-watched original productions.

The third season, renewed in December 2021, was canceled in July 2022, just before filming was set to begin.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the first season earned a 67% approval rating from 27 reviews and an average score of 7.6/10.

Greg Wheeler of The Review Geek changed his mind as the series went on, and ended up considering it one of the best of the year.

The third season was canceled just days before filming was set to begin, and negotiations with several well-known actors were still ongoing.

The second season moved away from the multi-era structure and set its entire story in 1949, with a cast completely different from the first season's.
