Synopsis of Brooklyn Nine-Nine

At the 99 precinct of the New York Police Department in Brooklyn, a group of detectives with very different personalities works together. Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, is a brilliant cop who treats his job as a joke and clashes again and again with his superiors. His new boss, Captain Raymond Holt, a serious and strict man brought to life by Andre Braugher, arrives at the precinct determined to make the squad behave properly and follow the rules. The series sets up a clash between Jake's free-spirited style and Holt's discipline, while the rest of the team tries to get through the day-to-day cases. Created by Dan Goor and Michael Schur, the comedy airs on Fox.

Trivia about Brooklyn Nine-Nine

NBC, the network owned by Universal Television's parent company, turned down the series, and the creators sold it to Fox.

The series was shot at CBS Studio Center in Studio City, Los Angeles, a single-camera ensemble comedy.

The exterior of the 99 precinct is actually that of Brooklyn's 78 precinct, and no precinct has been assigned the number 99.

Fox canceled the series in May 2018, and just thirty hours later, Goor announced that NBC would pick it up for a sixth season of 13 episodes.

The first season won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, and that same night Samberg took home the award for Best Actor.

Andre Braugher was nominated four times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series.

Escouade 99, the French-language Canadian adaptation, had a budget of 4 million Canadian dollars for its first season, roughly the same as a single episode of the original series.

At a 2026 panel, Dan Goor explained that a possible continuation would be difficult without Andre Braugher, though he said they would find a way to do it; no official renewal has been announced.
