Trivia about Station 19

An episode of Grey's Anatomy, originally scheduled to air in fall 2017 but broadcast in March 2018, served as the backdoor pilot for the series.

Filming takes place mostly in Los Angeles, though some scenes are also shot in Seattle. The fire station is based on Seattle's Station 20 in the Queen Anne neighborhood.

Stacy McKee served as showrunner for the first two seasons, after which Krista Vernoff took over and held the role from the third season onward.

The first season earned a 65% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an average score of 6/10 based on 17 reviews.

In December 2023, ABC announced that the seventh season would be the last. The series ended on May 30, 2024, after seven seasons and 105 episodes.

The seventh season had only ten episodes, compared with the 18 of the sixth, after delays caused by the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes.

The cancellation was announced just three days into production on the final season, a decision that surprised the cast and crew.

The series earned a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series at the 2024 GLAAD Media Awards, after winning the Favorite LGBTQ+ Character award at the 2022 Autostraddle TV Awards.
