Synopsis of The Closer

Brenda Johnson is the deputy chief of the Los Angeles Police Department, a former CIA-trained interrogator originally from Atlanta. She has a reputation as a "closer," the person who doesn't just solve a case but gets confessions that lead to convictions. The series follows her work within the LAPD, where several of her male colleagues provoke her out of jealousy and insecurity, while she keeps her composure and tests her own methods with each new crime. Created by James Duff and aired on TNT, the series stars Kyra Sedgwick, who plays a character who never loses her cool even when the pressure comes from inside the precinct.

«They'll bring you in. She'll make you talk.»

Trivia about The Closer

Up to the 2011 Primetime Emmy Awards, Kyra Sedgwick was the only actress in television history nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award in every year the show aired.
According to the entertainment director of More Magazine, the series, which premiered in summer, has helped audiences accept that summer is a time to watch original shows on television.
Gender researcher Maddy Dychtwald argues that the lead character retains her femininity and keeps her composure in the face of two colleagues who provoke her out of jealousy and insecurity.
The premiere of "The Closer" drew more than seven million viewers and set the record for the most-watched series premiere of an original scripted show on basic cable television.
The season two and season three premieres surpassed that record, with 8.28 and 8.81 million viewers, respectively.
TNT announced in December 2010 that the seventh season would be the last, after Kyra Sedgwick told producers and executives that she would leave the series when it ended.
