Synopsis of Better Call Saul

Better Call Saul, created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould and airing on AMC, is set in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the early 2000s. Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) is a former small-time con artist from the Chicago area who tries to leave his past behind and make a living as a lawyer. Inspired by his older brother Chuck (Michael McKean), he starts out working in the mailroom at the law firm Hamlin, Hamlin & McGill, where he meets Kim Wexler (Rhea Seehorn), another employee who is finishing law school and hopes to become a lawyer at the firm. A friendship forms between them that soon becomes something more. Jimmy wants to prove he can be a respectable professional, but his old habits and the pressures of the job test every step he takes.

Trivia about Better Call Saul

The Saul Goodman character was only supposed to appear in four episodes of Breaking Bad, but he ended up gaining so much weight in the story that he became a central character.

Her performance as Kim Wexler in season one convinced the writers to give more weight to the relationship between Jimmy and Kim starting in season two.

Michael Mando landed the role of Nacho Varga after impressing Gilligan and Gould with his audition tape and screen test.

Tony Dalton debuted as Lalo Salamanca in season four and joined the main cast in season five, after appearing only as a name mentioned in one episode of Breaking Bad.

Netflix was among the distributors interested in the series, but the final deal was closed between AMC and Sony Pictures Television.

The series premiere holds the ratings record for a scripted series premiere in basic cable history.

AMC renewed "Better Call Saul" in January 2020 for a sixth and final season of 13 episodes, originally scheduled to premiere in 2021.

The season finale was the most-watched episode of season six, with 2.7 million viewers on AMC according to Live+3 ratings, and reached 1.8 million in same-day viewing.
