Synopsis of Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord

Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord follows the life of Pablo Escobar Gaviria, played by Andrés Parra. The son of a farmer and a schoolteacher from Envigado, a town near Medellín, the protagonist is initially a fragile and fearful child. His first brush with death, during the era of La Violencia, and the protection of a motherly Antioquian woman awaken a shrewder side in him. Set in Colombia, the series tracks his first steps into organized crime and later into cocaine smuggling. Escobar wants to be a good husband, a respectable citizen, a politician and a champion of the poor, but those impulses clash with each other and with the Colombian state. Around him grows an empire of criminals competing for power.
