Trivia about Animal Kingdom

TNT first set the premiere for June 7, 2016, but on May 11 it moved the date to June 14 with a two-hour special.

Production on season five was suspended on March 16, 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic and resumed on September 7 of that year.

Ellen Barkin and Scott Speedman were the first actors confirmed for the cast in July 2015, as Smurf and Baz.

The first season earned a 76% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 33 critic reviews.

The series is based on the Australian film of 2010 with the same title, which was itself inspired by the Pettingill crime family.

During its first season, «Animal Kingdom» averaged 5.5 million viewers per episode across all platforms and ranked among the five new cable dramas with the largest adult audience.

TNT renewed «Animal Kingdom» for a sixth season in January 2021 and announced it would be the last; the series concluded in 2022 with 75 episodes across six seasons.

The sixth season consisted of 13 episodes, premiered on June 19, 2022, and aired its final episode on August 28 of the same year.
