Synopsis of The Pitt

Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, an attending emergency physician at Trauma Medical Center in Pittsburgh, starts an exhausting shift at a hospital that his staff calls "The Pitt." He is still dealing with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, and that same day he must welcome four medical residents joining the team. Trivia about The Pitt

Each episode unfolds in real time and covers roughly one hour of the shift, so the series moves at the pace of the clock.
A crew of about 125 people built the 25-bed emergency room in ten weeks on a Warner Bros. soundstage in Burbank, California.
Gemmill, Wells and Wyle decided to use almost no background music before writing the script, to reinforce the series' documentary style.
Instead of a theme song, each episode opens with a simple title card with on-screen text showing what time of the shift it is.
The series started as an ER spin-off centered on Carter, but it was dropped because Warner Bros. Television did not reach an agreement with the Michael Crichton estate.
The series won eleven Primetime Emmy Awards, including two for Outstanding Drama Series.
Production on the second season began in June 2025, and Max announced that its premiere was scheduled for January 2026.
Tracy Ifeachor, who played Dr. Heather Collins in the first season, did not return for the second; in addition, Charles Baker, Irene Choi, Lucas Iverson and Laëtitia Hollard joined as recurring cast members.
