Synopsis of Forever

Henry Morgan is a medical examiner with the New York City Police Department and has been immortal for more than two centuries. No one around him shares his condition, so he has learned to live with it while working in the city with medical knowledge that far surpasses that of his colleagues. Detective Jo Martinez, who investigates seemingly impossible homicides, relies on his expertise to close cases. Henry solves crimes with the help of his assistant Lucas and other celebrities, all while searching for a way to end his eternal life. Created by Matthew Miller and aired on ABC, the series combines police investigation with scenes from Henry's past, presented as flashbacks within each episode.

Trivia about Forever

The idea for Forever came from a conversation between Matthew Miller and his five-year-old son about death.

After auditioning actors in New York, Los Angeles, Canada, London, Australia and South Africa, Miller spotted Ioan Gruffudd in the school pickup line at his children's school.

The scene of Henry's rebirth in the pilot was filmed in front of a green screen in a university pool, because the current of the East River was too strong.

The premiere of Forever on Antena 3 on July 15, 2015, drew 2,316,000 viewers, and the series averaged more than 1,679 million viewers throughout its run.

Forever shared its title with a 2003 novel by Pete Hamill, and RadicalMedia sent a letter to Warner Bros. Television asking that the series be renamed.

Lorraine Toussaint replaced Barbara Eve Harris after the pilot and, to prepare for playing Lieutenant Reece, visited the morgue and observed several autopsies.

The writers didn't give Hanson a first name until the fifth episode, "The Pugilist Break," when Jo called him "Mike" during a scene.

An E! Online poll ranked Forever as the third best new series of the 2014-2015 season, with 70.4% of voters in its favor.
